Chapter Meetings Chapter meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month unless otherwise specified. Each regular meeting includes devotions, patriotic exercises, a message from the President General, and a five minute National Defense report, plus a guest speaker. Refreshments follow. Community Activities
The Hendrick Hudson Chapter participates in a number of community events throughout the year, including those that promote interest in historic preservation, lineage research, veterans, education, and regional history.
2016-2017 Meeting Schedule September 22-25, 2016: 120th New York State DAR Conference. September 26, 2016: “History of the Jewish Community In and Around Hudson, NY, Mid 1800s to Present” by Arlene Levinson, expert on Hudson’s Jewish history. October 15, 2016: 22nd annual Columbia County Golden Gathering. Chapter members Jane Martin, Dorothy Avery and Judy Snow will have a table promoting NSDAR and lineage research with the theme“Genealogy: Fun, Fascination and Frustration.” October 15, 2016: Round Table hosted by General Peter Gansevoort Chapter, NSDAR. October 24, 2016: Field trip to Lindenwald, home of President Martin Van Buren. November 11, 2016: Veterans Day celebration including a commemorative laying of a wreath at the war monuments in Court House Park, Hudson, at 10:30 a.m. A parade steps off at 10:15 a.m. from Seventh Street Park. November 28, 2016: “The Tories in the American Revolution” by David Dorpfeld, Greene County Historian. December 11, 2016: “Honoring DAR Good Citizens” by Cecile Haber and Sharon Sheridan, DAR Good Citizens Co-Chairmen, and Christmas at the historic Robert Jenkins House. February 27, 2017: “Hudson’s Lost Neighborhood: South Front Street” by Peter Cipkowski, Roeliff Jansen Historical Society President and Hillsdale Town Supervisor. March 3, 2017: Birthday of Chapter Benefactor Frances Chester White Hartley. March 27, 2017: “Women in Late 17th Century Politics” by David William Voorhees, Director of the Jacob Leisler Institute. April 8, 2017: Lineage Research Workshop With Gretchen Maresco, State Lineage Research Chairman. April 22, 2017: Round Table co-hosted by the Old Hellebergh and Ondawa- Cambridge Chapters, NSDAR. April 24, 2017: “Local Artists of the Hudson River School” by Peter Jung, expert on traditional American painting. May 22, 2017: “1896: The First Year of the Hendrick Hudson Chapter of the NSDAR, In Context,” by Chapter First Vice Regent Virginia Martin. May 29, 2017: Memorial Day parade steps off at 10:15 a.m. from Seventh Street Park in Hudson. A commemorative laying of a wreath at the war monuments in Court House Park, Hudson, is set for 10:30 a.m. June 10, 2017: 21st annual Flag Day Parade in Hudson. June 11, 2017: Flag Day luncheon. Malcolm Nance, a counter-terrorism and intelligence consultant for several U.S. agencies, speaks on national security. June 28-July 2, 2017: 126th Continental Congress in Washington, D.C. July 15, 2017: Round Table hosted by the Schoharie Chapter, NSDAR.
